Ladies Nightwear Project
Autumn Winter 2015 Ladies Nightwear Project
For this Autumn Winter 2015 Ladies nightwear project I wanted to incorporate a mixture of graphics including placement prints, all over prints and slogans using soft feminine fonts to give each piece a new feminine look perfect for nightwear.
The shapes in this collection have been kept simple consisting of crew neck long sleeve sweats, scoop neck long sleeve tees, jersey shorts with functional drawcord waists, straight leg joggers, classic matching check flannel sets with the interest in a few key pieces, an oversized sweat hood with cross over detail at the centre front and a snuggle top with oversized gathered polo neck.
The colour palette I used for the ladies nightwear range is soft and feminine using dusty pinks, soft greys, off whites and simple pastel blue to compliment and pull the range together.
The fabrics used are all very soft and comfortable, with comfort being the key aspect of this ladies nightwear range. Using viscose polyester mixes, 100% cotton and cotton polyester mixes to create fabrics that’s are both interesting and fit within costs for the all-important buyers. It is so important to ensure your range is workable for the rest of your team or for your client, as a designer it is imperative you work with fabrics and trims that come within price, I have worked with fabric mills that can create truly amazing fabrics but it does not matter if you can not use these, it is so important to source fabrics that are both new and interesting but also work within the costs as we want the customer to keep returning to the store season on season.
At high street retailer level this is very important, perhaps when working with a higher end client you may have a little extra to play with, but China is very good for interesting new fabrics within price at this level in polyester cotton or viscose polyester mixes, fabric sourcing is a very important role of a designer some companies are lucky enough to have fabric sourcing teams which can help massively especially when working to a tight deadline which is usually the case.
